An Urgent Appeal to the Leaders of the Free World for the Defense of Freedom and the Rule of Law
– The Crisis of Constitutional Legitimacy in South Korea, Unjust Treatment of Global Corporations, and the Strategic Direction for Joint Action by the Free World Alliance
To the distinguished leaders and economic champions of the Free World who share the universal values of liberty, human rights, and the Rule of Law:
We extend our highest regards.
Behind the democratic facade presented to the world, the Republic of Korea (ROK) is currently undergoing a severe constitutional crisis. An illegitimate regime, lacking legal authority, has systematically violated mandatory public laws and unlawfully seized governing power. This is not a mere internal political dispute of a single nation; it is a critical threat that dismantles market predictability within South Korea and severely destabilizes the security of global supply chains across the entire free-world defense apparatus. Therefore, we hereby share the reality of this situation and propose concrete solutions to our allies.
- Current Status and Imminent Threats
- Unjust Treatment of Four Major U.S. Global Corporations and the Subversion of the Market Economy
Recently, the South Korean regime has enforced extrajudicial regulations and discriminatory digital trade measures aimed at restricting freedom of expression against four pivotal U.S. corporations that drive global innovation and markets: Google, Meta, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok.
This issue transcends simple protectionism for domestic industries. It stems from a calculated political motive to artificially control the critical information technology (IT) and digital platform infrastructure of the United States—South Korea’s closest ally. Enforcing arbitrary regulations, conducting punitive probes without due process, and unlawfully intervening in technology and data assets directly violate “corporate liberty” and “investment stability,” which are the cornerstones of a free-market economy. This stands as a direct betrayal of the economic partnership that forms the bedrock of the ROK-U.S. alliance.
- Collusion with the “Censorship Laws” and Resulting Judicial Risks
The hostile actions against these global enterprises align perfectly with the execution of the so-called “Ip-Teul-Mak Act” (an unconstitutional system designed to silence dissent and control the press and public opinion).
Lacking constitutional legitimacy, the current regime seeks to completely censor both domestic and international criticism to conceal its illegal judicial origins and systemic vulnerabilities. The imposition of groundless sanctions on foreign entities and the intimidation of digital platforms are calculated political maneuvers to block information unfavorable to the regime and place the digital ecosystem under strict state control (官治). Consequently, global enterprises operating under international standards are now exposed to highly volatile, unpredictable judicial and administrative risks.
- The Core of the Crisis: Security Risks of an Illegitimate Regime
The gravest risk facing the Free World is that the current regime ruling South Korea is an unconstitutional government, void ab initio (from the beginning). It was established after unlawfully ousting a legitimate president through the March 2017 impeachment trial of President Park Geun-hye, which was carried out by repeatedly violating mandatory constitutional laws, including the requirement for a full 9-judge bench panel and the unlawful utilization of illegally obtained evidence.
A regime that has collapsed its own domestic Rule of Law possesses a high probability of arbitrarily tearing up international treaties and alliance commitments. This unconstitutional regime—suppressing its own citizens’ freedom of expression and violating the property rights of allied nations’ corporations simply to sustain its grip on power—has caused South Korea’s global credibility to plummet, forming the weakest, most vulnerable link in the ROK-U.S.-Japan security architecture.
- Strategy and Solutions for the Free World Alliance (The Solution)
To halt the rise of this lawless society and restore mutually beneficial alliance relations, we strongly urge the implementation of the following joint solutions:
First, Apply Strategic Economic Reciprocity and Regulatory Oversight at the Alliance Level
The governments and legislatures of the Free World, led by the United States, must issue strong official expressions of regret regarding the discriminatory and extrajudicial regulations imposed on their corporations within South Korea. Allies must counter these arbitrary enforcements under the “Principle of Reciprocity” and activate formal regulatory monitoring mechanisms to ensure that the property rights and technology assets of allied enterprises are not sacrificed as political tools by an unconstitutional regime.
Second, Enhance Monitoring of Free Speech and the Value Alliance
The international community must publicly expose the dangers of South Korea’s digital censorship and silencing policies, which directly violate the core Western value of free speech. The regime must immediately halt its unjust pressure on global platforms. To guarantee information transparency and corporate freedom, the political and economic leadership of allied nations must launch coordinated declarations and congressional hearings.
Third, Implement Severe International Sanctions Against Anti-Alliance Entities Violating Global Norms
We formally blow the whistle on egregious violations that directly jeopardize the security of the Free World. Specific individuals and corporate entities within South Korea, aligned with this illicit power structure, have been directly violating UN Security Council resolutions and international sanctions against North Korea and Iran by clandestinely rerouting financial and material support to these terrorist states.
This is a betrayal of the value alliance and an act that castrates global security. In coordination with the United Nations, the U.S. government and Congress must immediately invoke powerful international financial and trade sanctions, including Secondary Boycotts, against these anti-alliance, treasonous corporations and individuals.
Fourth, Activate Security Protocols under the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty and Support the Restoration of Constitutional Legitimacy
The current paralysis of constitutional order and arbitrary governance in South Korea means that a core pillar of the ROK-U.S. alliance is rapidly losing its national identity and defense capabilities, triggering a severe security crisis. This constitutes a “threat by shape” as defined in Article II of the Mutual Defense Treaty, posing an internal subversive threat to the entire alliance.
Therefore, the U.S. government, honoring the spirit of the treaty, must exercise tight deterrence regarding wartime operational control (OPCON) to stabilize regional security. Furthermore, it must officially support the restoration and legitimacy of President Park Geun-hye, whose lawful governance was unjustly halted by severe procedural fraud, thereby ensuring the normalization of South Korea’s distorted constitutional order.
Fifth, Support the Reconstruction of the Rule of Law by South Korean Citizens
Awakened sovereign citizens of South Korea are currently waging a lawful resistance through all available legal means to restore the broken constitutional order and judicial justice. Intellectuals, legal experts, journalists, and economic leaders across the Free World must provide resolute solidarity and vocal backing to ensure the success of this grassroots movement to rebuild the Rule of Law.
The Republic of Korea, built through the solidarity of its sovereign citizens under the historic protection of its ally, the United States, will never collapse under the tyranny of an illegitimate regime. We urgently call upon the leaders of our allied nations to clear-sightedly confront this reality and stand in firm solidarity with us, so that South Korea—a critical partner in the global defense of liberty—can fully recover its constitutional legitimacy and the values of a free-market economy.
